Lisa Grue at ICFF - come and visit at booth 814

Danish artist/designer/blogger/DIYer extraordinaire Lisa Grue has created a delicate, yet edgy high end embroidery kit which she will debut at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York from May 19-22nd, 2012.

The kit contains everything needed to complete a beautiful, large-scale modern tapestry and is available in three color variations and three designs, based on her original hand drawn images. The fair is being held at the Javits Center, and you can find Lisa at booth #814.  In addition to her embroidery kits, she will also have limited edition prints of her designs + custom textiles on display as well.
 ABOUT THE KIT:

The theme of the embroidery motifs is "Memento mori," to remind people of their morality.  Lisa Grue's motivation for selecting this theme is her reaction to a stressful lifestyle. Lisa believes that when we hurry from one thing to another, or take on many things at the same time, we often forget to enjoy life.  She thinks that we need to slow down, and be present in our lives, and by doing embroidery, you are encouraged to slow down. Embroidery requires concentration, it is a meditative hobby, a perfect stress relief tool.
PRODUCT DETAILS:
The "My Embroidery Kit" by Lisa Grue is an easy-level embroidery kit containing all of the essentials that one will need in order to learn how to hand embroider with a simple technique.  The technical skills to start are neither complex nor difficult to learn.  The cotton fabric is printed with a bright grey pattern of the design, so that the user can see where to make the stitches.  Breathe in and out and enjoy!

Each kit includes:

- a wooden embroidery hoop
- embroidery needle
- embroidery floss for chosen motif
- embroidery how-to
- cotton fabric with the chosen motif printed
- a beautiful box with a leather belt to use after the embroidery is finished
About Lisa Grue:
Lisa Grue graduated from the Design School of Denmark in 2001, where she studied illustration, fashion, and fine art.  She started the creative platform Underwerket in 2001, and she has carved quite a name for herself and Underwerket with her work, illustrating and doing graphic design for books, fashion and design magazines, as well as fashion labels.

Lisa has garnered applause - along with occasional outrage - with her sublime cocktail of zany ideas, superbly ambiguous humor, in-your-face attitude, and poetic femininity.  Fashion and beauty magazines, T-shirt brands, and fashion and publishing houses have all taken notice of her original work.

Lisa/Underwerket is an especially creative personality in the Danish design environment, appearing in several exhibitions in Denmark and Europe.  Lisa has been honored as one of the new design talents of Denmark, with a number of grants from the National Art Foundation of Denmark.  Lisa's strong work has steadily brought her attention around the world and can be seen in several international books on illustration and design.  Among Lisa's clients include Anna Sui, Ace Hotel New York, Nylon Magazine, Kid Robot, and Random House.
